An email scam in the name of "Aplana Company" has been brought to our attention. The scam is circulating in the form of an email (in various formats and languages) claiming to offer individuals in different European countries part time work and/or to accept payments from customers on behalf of "Aplana Company".  The letter claims the company is located in Kiev, Ukraine and is signed by "Michael Macedonsky, Director".  Typically the email asks the recipient to reply to a lavabit.com email address.  

If you have received a similar email, we can assure you it was not sent by Aplana Software.  It is a phishing scam using the company's name and the name of our COO Michael Makedonsky (spelt wrong in the email) trying to extract personal information from you.

7 July 2008.
