System functionality

Automation of contracting process:

• Building a unified request
• Sending the request to a server agent via an interface with e-mail support
• Sending the request via a web interface
• Automatic contract ID generation for a contract between the representative office and the customer and transfer of that ID back to the site
• Gating the request from the mail system into the database.

Project highlights

• On-line (web interface) and off-line (e-mail) modes of client-side operations with identical functionality and similar interface
• The system was build over existing information infrastructure

Tools and technologies

• MS Exchange 5.5: e-mail server which enables reception of requests via e-mail;
• Oracle 8.5 on HPUX platform: a database storing system data and processes requests;
• MS IIS: interner server;
• VB: technology used for development of the mail interface and the server agent to process and gate a request from the mail subsystem to the database
• ASP, ISAPI: technology used to develop the web interface
